Sikhs Demand Minority Rights in Jammu and Kashmir

Chairman of the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee, Jagmohan Singh Raina, has demanded minority rights for Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir. He said he hoped the BJP-led NDA government will resolve pending issues related to Sikh residents in Jammu and Kashmir and grant minority status to them. He said the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir deserved the minority status as they fall under the provisions set out in this regard and the Minority Act, as framed by the National Commission for Minorities, should be extended to the state without any dilution whatsoever.

Mr Raina said in case any attempts were made to dilute the Act with regard to Jammu and Kashmir, the Sikh community will not desist from carrying out a full-fledged agitation.
