Very few Muslims in UP Police Force, reveals RTI
An RTI reveals that Uttar Pradesh the largest state in the country with about four croreMuslim population has less than four percent representation in the police force.
Only 2.31 percent of Muslims happen to be at the sub inspector’s level, 3.27 percent happen to be at the head constable’s level whereas 4.37 percent are constables in the UP Civil Police. That makes it clear that there is negligible representation of the community in the police force in a state where political parties have sharply calculated their vote banks on account of the community’s population in the state. The present government boasts of enjoying the support of the community the most.
This data was released by the UP Government in response to an RTI filed by activist Urvashi Sharma stating that the UP civil police employs just 236 Muslim Sub-Inspectors out of total 10,197 , 269 Muslim Head-Constables out of total 8,224and 4,430 Muslim Constables out of total 1,01,245.
