Assam Riots Death Toll Goes to 41 »
Five more bodies were recovered from riot affected areas in Westren Assam taking the death toll of riots victims to 41 with five more bodies found on Wednesday Morning. The dead bodies were recovered from Beki river that flows from Baksa district.
“Officially, we have not identified the bodies yet but afew families have been able to identify them to be from the affected areas,” Baksa DC Vinod Seshan said.
“However, identification has to be done to ascertain whether these are the victims of the attack in Narayanguri and Hagrabari villages,” Seshan said.
A team of 40 NDRF personnel, which reached the spot on Tuesday started their operation from this morning to fish out more bodies from the Beki river and the operation is still on. many have gone missing from the villages and people susopect that they could be victims of the same BODO terrorist attack that killed people in Baksa district since last week. Suspected NDFB(S) terrorists had unleashed violence in the two districts of Baksa and Kokrajhar on May two and came in motor cycyles firing endlessly at unarmed villers killing many.The district adminsitration has declared indefinite curfew in the three affected districts.
