Muslim Clerics Show of Solidarity for the Cause of Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh

Muslim leader and general secretary of Jamaet-e-Ulema, Hind, West Bengal unit Sadiqullah Choudhury called a mass rally on Thursday in support of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders of Bangladesh who are facing persecution in the country. He said that irrespective of their political ideology and religion the people should support the movement of Jaamat-e-Islami in Bangladesh.
The Ulema resolved that they would fight for the cause of the people facing persecution from the Sheikh Hasina government. Choudhury requested the intellectuals of West Bengal, known for their revolutionary ideology to come forward and raise the issue across the world. He also said that he will request to chief minister Mamata Banerjee to put pressure on Sheikh Hasina´s government to stop the atrocities against innocent muslims of the Jamaat. He said, “It is unfair that during the time of elections she promises help to people but when elections are over it over she keeps quiet”. Choudhury was talking about the chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee at the civic convention put up by 15 Muslim and human rights organisations in Kolkata.
The congegration also raised the issue of severe human rights violation in Israel. He addressed the crowd saying “without the support of American government, Palestine could not attack Israel. America supplies arms, ammunitions and money to Palestine”. He said that Barak Obama should apologise for this heinous activity. Almost thousand people turned to his mass convention and later marched towards the American Centre situated at Park Street to give a mass deputation to American Consulate but police prevented them midway.
